Spiritual community is birthed when redeemed people do life together. God is the essence, if you will, of everything and when we come to know Him intimately we have a foundational connection through prayer and the Scriptures. This connection creates foundational attitudes…(Spiritual Community)

Central to the view of Replacement Theology is; the promises to Israel were fulfilled in Jesus, and the church, as a whole, has permanently replaced Israel in the working out of God’s plan. Unfortunately, much damage has been done to Christian thought; theology, doctrine and practice due to the failure to take into account all of the Biblical data concerning Israel. The two major errors that typify Replacement Theology are: Fundamental and contextual methods of Biblical interpretation being lost to allegorical and spiritualized methods; giving way to the loss of Jewish thought and world view resulting in a theology set in Greek philosophy. Second, Israel’s association with only the curses in Scripture, abolishing any future favor with God, and an assured Kingdom with Messiah. Is this true? Has God changed His mind? If so, what about the church, could we be replaced? How can we be sure? What is our guarantee, our hope?

The Feasts of Israel are of great importance. They are a testimony to what God has done, and will do for His people. God declared, “These are my appointed feasts, the appointed feasts of the LORD.” Leviticus 23:2. These feasts where to be a memorial to all that God had provided and done on behalf of His people, Israel. These where His feasts. They where set apart from all other days to celebrate God’s deliverance, provision, rest and joy. These feasts are still an intricate part of Jewish heritage and faith today. As Christians, we’re often left in the dark in trying to understand the feasts in their original context, not to mention their strong spiritual significance. As a western society we find our roots leading back to the Grecian/Roman period which values art, theater, athletics, philosophy, mythology, knowledge and much more. Unfortunately, when it comes to the Scriptures, this is the basis or traditional method of Biblical interpretation that has been taught through the ages. This causes us to look at things much differently; far removed from the Jewish roots of our faith. This can often becomes a stumbling block to our ability to understand the purpose and intent of the inspired author, leading to an allegorical type of interpretation that spiritualizes what were meant to be realities and truths. Although the New Testament is written in Greek, since it was the common language of the day, it was written by Jews who new their culture and were writing from a Jewish perspective. We would benefit greatly by getting in touch with our rich, beautiful Jewish heritage. More to come…
